Sunderland Arts Award Supporter City – SCHOOLS LAUNCH

Sunderland Arts Award Supporter City – SCHOOLS LAUNCH
Tuesday 3rd May, 4pm – 6pm, National Glass Centre, Liberty Way, Sunderland SR6 0GL

We warmly invite all Sunderland schools to join us to celebrate the official launch of Sunderland: Arts Award Supporter City.

Over the past two years Sunderland’s cultural organisations have been working together to deliver an exciting offer that is relevant to the wider School Improvement Agenda – through Arts Award. Their achievements have been so positive that Trinity College has decided to name Sunderland the country’s first Arts Award Supporter City and we would like to invite you to find out how it can support teaching and learning in your school.

This event is open to strategic leadership in schools and anyone with an interest in the school improvement plan, SMSC and STEAM agenda. The purpose of the event is to:

  • Introduce Sunderland’s cultural ambition and highlight the vital role that Schools have in shaping, sharing and realising it in the year we bid to become City of Culture 2021
  • Introduce Arts Award to Sunderland Schools – what is Arts Award and how can Arts Award support pupils and the wider School Improvement Agenda?
  • Highlight the expertise and resources available to Schools to support delivery of Arts Award with pupils through the Sunderland Arts Award Supporter City offer, and the wider cultural offer
  • Highlight and connect schools to the exemplar Arts Award practise already being delivered across the city

There will presentations and films, break out discussion, refreshments and optional tour of the current exhibition with drinks.

This event is being programmed by Sunderland Cultural Partnership’s Learning Group and Culture Bridge North East and will be attended by the city’s cultural organisations. If you would like to attend please RSVP to Helen Connify on helen.connify@sunderland.ac.uk by Friday 29th April.
